How you can straighten your teeth without traditional metal braces

A straight, properly aligned smile gives patients the self-confidence they need to look and feel their best. Well-aligned teeth also provide functional stability and easier cleansability to maintain teeth. With the help of orthodontics, many patients can reposition their teeth and enjoy a smile that makes them proud! At Shandley Kane Dental of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, Drs. Steven Shandley, Elizabeth Kane, and Colleen Shandley provide quality care, and recommendations to help you achieve that dream smile you have always wanted!

What is Invisalign?

Our team at Shandley Kane Dental describes Invisalign as a teeth straightening option that involves clear aligners worn over natural teeth.  Instead of having a dentist bond metal brackets to the surfaces of the teeth and link them with wires, this treatment uses a series of trays made to fit over the natural teeth and dental arch to reposition the teeth gradually. These clear teeth aligners are created using digital scans of the patient’s current smile and computer technology to determine the tooth movements necessary to achieve the final, desired results.

How do I find out if I am a candidate?

Our Invisalign dentist starts with an evaluation of the smile. They will discuss your unique needs and smile goals to decide if you are a candidate for Invisalign clear aligners. If so, digital impressions are taken of the natural smile in its current state and the doctor designs a customized treatment plan. This information is then sent to Invisalign laboratories to fabricate  the series of trays needed to move the teeth to their final placement
